Leo Parker The Birth of Bop Vol. 1 Savoy XP 8060

The Birth of Bop series for the Savoy label was issued in both the 10" LP and the 7" 45rpm extended play (EP) configuration. Issued during the early 1950's, it featured sessions recorded during the late 1940's and originally released on the 10" 78rpm. This Leo Parker session is from December 1947 and features such legendary Bop pioneers as J. J. Johnson, Dexter Gordon, Joe Newman, Hank Jones, Curly Russell, and Shad Wilson. Note Goldblatt's signature just to the lower left of the word SAVOY.
